Hey Dorks

I'm thinking of buying a desktop pretty much to play d3. I just bought a new laptop like 2 months ago, so I'm trying to be semi budget conscious about this one. I'm assuming buying parts and assembling my machine will be the only option as to control costs. I'm not a GPU wizard, so I don't really know where I'm going to get the best bang for my buck and what power supply i'll need etc etc. A few small things to consider:

1.) thinking a 120gb SSD will be sufficient, i have a 1tb wireless network drive for storage
2.) i'll proalbey be a pirate for windows, so nn os
3.) nn monitor
4.) absolutely under $1,000 - would ideally like to spend 700-800, but i know "you pay for what you get"

Anyway, if you guys have had a good experience with certain products etc, please let me know what you're using or if you have any solid links to tried and true machines to run d3 superbly, post em

Here's what i came up with on amazon - like/hate? opinions

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 2048 MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI Ready Graphics Card - 162.99
FAN: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler - 26.70
CASE: Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower ATX Case - 59.99
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series 650-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified Power Supply Compatible with Intel Core i3, i5, i7 and AMD platforms - 79.99
SSD: Crucial 128 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s - 119.99
MB: ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 Intel Z68 ATX DDR3 1066 Intel - LGA 1155 Motherboard - 104.99
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500 3.3 GHz 6 MB Cache Socket LGA1155 Processor - 208.99
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB (2X4 GB) PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM Dual Channel Memory Kit - 44.99
random cd/dvd - 21.48

total - 830.10

is there anywhere i can cut corners here without losing much performance or spend a few dollars for a decent jump???

and be sure your ram sticks arent too tall for your cpu cooler, u might want to get the samsung 1600 ram, its shorter, great for OC. also, do you have a microcenter near you? you can get processor/mobo combo cheap. about 189 for cpu + 89.99 for mobo from there

Depends on distance / gas.

IE - I'd probably break even, closest is in Atlanta.

Unless you live in a state like TN and they have a distribution center, then you're fucked, i.e. - me.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDet...st=Combo.915431 is another good case+psu combo, although more expensive than what we have linked above. The case is much nicer, with 4 fans instead of 2, and a removable PSU filer. the psu is 750 w instead of 650w, not corsair brand but still modular and will be very nice (3 year warrenty)

i tried looking to bundle some of those pats, but i havent come up with anything to beat those prices. the price after rebate on the video card is great, same with SSD and PSU. you could upgrade your PSU and case to what i linked earlier, but donno if you care enough

-if you want to overclock in the future, however, we should upgrade your mobo to MSI and get you a cpu cooler. the noctua DH-14 was on sale earlier this week for 50 bucks, a killer deal

i think the $80 off the original price and free shipping is for the weekend only though
i dont have the details of the promo code, but it saved me an additional 34.50
so if you need a monitor - go for it this weekend

pretty sure i just got a bad piece of hardware or it was damaged in transit or something.
im exchanging it for a new one, but in the mean time, i can still play d3 on low settings with the integrated intel hd2000
