@norse & pinball

What do you think the Wings needs are right now? I think they are starting to find their stride finally.

Do you guys follow any blogs or fan sites?

I read wingingitinmotown every day. Looking for some more good material to keep up with.

We need Franzen to be a force to be reckoned with. Or trade him for some one who will be.
Was hoping we'd make an effort for Iginla to be honest, Give some of our young guns more ice time / bench cleary for some of them. They have looked good.

I think our offense is solid (other than issue I pointed out) and it's very deep but injury's have hurt us a good bit.
Defense is lackluster but I honestly think Lashoff has been our 2nd best defensemen which is sad.
I don't understand the people who don't like Howard, He's a very solid goalie that steals games for us while rarely losing us the game off an easy goal.
I just use www.Nhl.com , www.reddit.com/r/DetroitRedWings/ , and www.reddit.com/r/Hockey/

Fans that complain about Howard are fucking stupid. End of story there.

Franzen is such a pussy for a bigger forward, he rarely dominates a game anymore at all, I'd love to see him traded for an elite prospect or top draft pick, but there is noway anyone is taking him for that deal with his contract.

Not too worried about Iginla, would rather see some effort made for a young power forward that can help out long term in the East (Evander Kane would be nice).

I'm waiting on seeing how the DeKeyser scenario is going to play out. I wish we could clone a young Scott Stevens and play him. I hate that Nashville signed Shae Weber to such a stupid contract, he'd be an awesome addition since we are going to the East.

I can't wait for about 3 more years when some of these GRG prospects make it to the big club, they definitely have some good talent coming up the line. I just think the team needs to get bigger and more physical for the move to the East. I'm definitely worried that Helm is going to have a really hard time ever getting back to "healthy" status, back injuries are career killers.

Wings always let the prospects mature in Grand Rapids but in all honesty, some of them can play better then our 'nhl caliber' players and should get the job over them already.

Players who could/should be let go/traded (IMO):

Clearly
Coloalcaikviaoa
Eaves
Emmerton
Ian White
Lashoff or Huskins, one, not both
MONSTER when his contract expires

Wouldn't mind seeing both Fil and Franz traded for good prospects/draft picks. I'm afraid we won't let Filp go though, definitely not convinced he's a #1 center.

I would not trade Filppula, He's not a #1 center, but he's definitely a #2. Very good defensively too.

But we're only paying him 3 mil ?

/e his salary I guess is 3.5 mil this year, but his cap hit is only 3 mil.
I'd say he's worth it.

Games :81 Goals :23 Assists :43 Points :66
^ His last year stats.

All of the reports I have read that when his contract is up after this season he is going to be asking 5+ a season.

I don't think he'll get 5+, Jiri Hudler went to Calgary and got 4 mil. I think Filppula is overall better then hudler but they put up similar point totals.
I'd price Filppula more at the 4.5 mil range. (which I think is fairly high)

I think that the most Detroit will be willing to give him is 4.5 Mil. I think it is slightly high but completely fair.

The cap is dropping next season and they will have to resign Howard as well.

Brunner, Nyqvist, Andersson, and Tatar will all have to be resigned from their entry deals as well.

Brunner is the only one who might get more than 2 mil. Wings have plenty of cap room at the moment too.
The only players we have that are over priced are really franzen, Samuelsson, Cleary + Defensemen (Quincey, Coliacavo)/e forgot Ericsson

hoping for the line juggling to come to an end and filppula and brunner to find their roles (again)
kinda worried that filppula might ask for too much considering his performance this season
and franzen needs to play bigger because he really isn't a small dude

as for trades, i hope to god we don't trade for some old ass d-man
we need d but there really isn't a lot of options out there
and yeah i'd get rid of cocacola, cleary and samuelsson

personally can't wait for pulkkinen to go to grand rapids (next season), i really hope he could make it to the top 6 some day

and as for nyquist, i really don't know what more can he achieve in grand rapids so i hope we don't see him too much there

oh and i'm pretty excited about mrazek, not sure what's going to happen to gustavsson when mrazek is the official back-up

i only really browse hfboards' red wings section and a finnish hockey forum every now and then

Idk why we brought back samuelsson in the first place. And coliacavo was probably a panic button when we didn't get suter.

I have no expectations this season just hoping to continue our playoff appearances.

Mrazek will replace Gustvasson and eventually Howard depending on his contract length and performance (really think it's more of a contract issue between Howard or Mrazek playing).

If Mrazek develops into a boss, at some point they will be in a Kings/Nucks pickle and need to trade one of them off.

Wings trade Kent Huskins to PHI for Cond 7th round pick -.-

Probably cause of the DeKeyser pick up but still he played well for us.

he did serve his purpose, hopefully it earns him a contract, but philly has 7 d signed to start next year and the draft pick is conditional if philly signs him, well see

Not sure if Kindl's stick was touched, or if he just straight up back handed it past Howard.

Boumeester from Calgary to Blues
Jagr from Dallas to Bruins
D. Roy from Dallas to Vancouver

The 3 biggest trades that I saw recently?

Shedding contracts of Morrow, Roy, and Jagr is huge for them. Benn is locked up, so now they can get younger and move forward. Hopefully that's the plan

for what though? they aren't going to get a "start" with who they have and they certainly dont need to swap mid tier players for more mid tier players, the best we could hope for is a few mid round draft picks that we may get lucky with 4 years down the road
