Family life has gotten the best of me. Behold the start of my new goals, progress, etc.

Current weight is 285 lbs. My goal is 250 for now. Once I hit that target ill make a decision to either keep dropping weight or roughly maintain weight but reduce body fat % via strength training. I am going into this cold turkey. No regular fitness routine for the past 6 years outside of taking the dog out to play and chasing after babby. Current plan of attack is to reduce beer consumption, be more conscious of what I choose to eat and regularly use a rowing machine for cardio.

I am currently a sad shadow of myself. 6-12 years ago I exercised, ate right, played rugby and got very serious into power lifting. I gained roughly 85 pounds of muscle in 7 years and weight a very healthy looking 285 pounds. It was my goal to hit 300 pounds of body mass. However, dibilitating rugby injuiries and the realization that I could no longer afford the time and money to keep up that lifestyle (mostly eating) was impossible while working a sedentary office job and commuting 2 hours a day to work. While I have zero expectations of becoming what I once was, I need to do something since im getting older, getting tired/out of breath easier and stupid shit takes me longer to recover from.

Yesterday was my unofficial start to operation lose 35 lbs.

Food/Drink:
Only had 1 beer. Ate steak, potatoes and green beans for supper. No "bad" snacks except for some flaming fucking hot pickles the neighor made and a couple pieces of cheese to make my face stop hurting. Consumed some diet green tea and lots of water.

Exercise:
5 solid minutes on the water rower, total distance a pathetic 1/2 mile. (Jesus Christ, I use to do 5 miles when i first got the rower. I dont think half a mile is even a warmup. I have lots of work ahead of me.)

Today

Food:
Breakfast and lunch are my weak spots during the week because it takes proper planning. Made myself an omlete last night to bring to work for breakfast along with 40oz water. Lunch was horrible, couldnt resist pizza party held in the office. Supper tonight is tacos.

Exercise:
Softball game tonight which means day off of rower but also means random amounts of running which i guess is a decent substitute.

Good luck, this shit sucks.

I have some sort of social anxiety that prevents me from actually stepping foot into the gym for fear of looking like a pussy.

You shouldn't feel this way, the gym is the last place you should feel like you are bring judged. Be confident, esp at gym cuz that's time well spent

@adam, good luck dude! I'm trying to be a little better myself at bein healthier

Thats a common occurrence. The sheer fact that you want to go to the gym shows that you are conscious of your body and care. By nature you obviously are going to compare yourself to others and being the new comer will make you feel like you are being looked down upon.

I had a hell of a time in my later years of college finding a lifting partner because everyone I was friends with felt like an ass that when it was their turn we had to take most of the weight off of every exercise. I understand why it happens but honestly I am the last person to be judgmental in that aspect. The fact that you are there and trying and not being a dick/cocky to other people speaks volumes about who you are as a person.

Thanks man. I know I can hit my goals. It was just much easier when i lived by myself and had my own schedule/diet/routine.

Having a family is something I will need to learn to balance into the healthy lifestyle. A big point of contention for my wife and I while we were dating was that we always ate 2 seperate meals. She cooked for herself and cooked a second healthier meal that fit my needs. She called me a food natzi continually and it drove her nuts. I eventually caved in and its been downhill since. I think we can reach a happy medium, we both are on the same page of expectations now.

yeah being married makes it hard. i get up at 6, get ready, drive to work, get there at 730, work till at least 5:15, home by 6:15-6:30, after dinner/relaxing its maybe 8, that leaves only 2-3 hours to spend time with wife, relax, have time for myself, and gym before bed.

a lot of times gym doesn't happen

Yesterdays update:

Didnt have time to eat before softball game. Ended up caving in and having a cupcake as my only nutrition before the game. Drank 60oz of water during the game. Ate eggplant parmesean for supper instead of tacos after the fact.

Exercise consisted of not only softball but this weird dancing game that the wife was playing on the wii after the babbys went gn8. I totally lost my man-card and looked like a faggot dancing in my living room but i worked up a sweat and it made the wife happy.

After getting the heart rate up for 40 mins or so doing that, I showered and had a beer. I couldnt resist. Stoppin drinking beer is going to be more difficult than previously imagined.

I didnt even bother. Got home from work, jumped out of my vehicle and was met by my wife and daughter playing in the yard. Dan showed up like 5 minutes later.

same, twice daily
ive hit a plateau where my diet can no longer solely help me lose weight, though i have lost 25 or so just from not eating like a teenager anymore. i have to stop consuming 6-8 beers a night + start exercising. if had will power i would only drink on the weekends, this might shed another 5 pounds.

current 185 fyi, but im short so im fat :(

if you do drink 6 beers a night, lets assume they are coors lights (which they probably arent). thats 6x100 = 600 calories right there

your daily calorie intake for dieting should be somewhere around 1600-2000 depending on your size and how active you are. beer alone is like 1/3 your allotted calories.

quit drinking the beer and i bet you lose weight much easier

also, no person who is a desk jockey needs even 1600 calories imo.

While we are on the subject...

The beer i brewed commercially is estimated at 261 cals per 12oz
My home brew old ale, imperial stout and belgian ales clock in closer to 480 cals

Considering I previously drank 6+ of these a night...

ive figured that im around 1k cals/week day and weekends are no questions asked drink big beers then switch to finishing off with a 6 pack of local ipa/stout. so basically a bomber of 9% followed by a bomber of 9% followed by 4-6 bottles of local brew. im sure there is enough calories there to feed a family for a night.

Agenda/Log catchup since thursday

Thursday: Dan showed up and beers were consumed. No exercise.

Friday: Avoided drinking beer and "took it easy" in prep for the following day filled with softball.

Saturday: Refrained from drinking as much as i normally would have. Instwad of drinking 4-5 inbetween every game I only had like 4 homebrews all day. I hit some serious longballs dueing our games and due to not being in shape, they were only triples instead of homeruns. My goal for nect year is to be able to round all the bases without blacking out/being out of breath so bad.

Sunday: The combination of yesterdays running all day and coming down with a stomach bug had me loungen most of the day. Around 4 pm i forced myself to get shit done. Cut grass (took an hour) and went on a 2 mile walk with the wife.

The meals for the past 3-4 days were not ideal. However, I have been consuming salads at least once a day which is wrecking my ass worse than normal. Ive significantly upped my fruit and veggy intake in leu of bad snacks. I can feel the change in my body. I am craving sweets and junk food which is funny since i never really ate junk food to begin with.

Tonight: Gotta do more than 6 mins/half mile on the rower.

fuck! i need to drop some fat too
atm i'm at 235 and my goal is 200'ish +/- 5 lbs
to be honest, i am not most consistent gym visitor, some weeks i am there almost every day and some weeks not at all
cutting down on food is not really the issue, coz i'm already at between 2300 to 2500 kcal per day, which is considered under my nutritional demands at current weight, so logically i should lose weight ... but i do not
after i quit smoking 5 years ago i gained 22 or 23 pounds and since then maintain same weight no matter how hard i train

i know, my greatest flaw is inconsistency in training ... working on it

Dropped a few pounds seemingly without any real effort. Wife is doing the same and surprisingly lost the same amount as me.
In too lazy to bother writing it out here. I dont understand how you clowns can grind on with that daily agenda shit each and every fucking day.

I understand that the mere thought that tomorrow is a new day and therefore can have activities logged and planned is difficult to wrap your head around, so instead I will offer you my cock.
