so far what ive learned is this:
computer declares war
sends waves of attackers
defend the waves
they ask for peace, and a city

another thing i noticed in larger games is that if you broker yourself into a 3 or 4 way circlejerk DOF and all of your m8s ask you to declare war on someone and you do (+10 turns or not), that the civ will give you gold for peace when your army never goes within 100 hexs of them

have also noticed that the ai auto reups on trades that are about to expire (like 240 gold for a luxury)
but its funny because if your relationship has deteriorated then they will reject the trade even though theyre the ones who proposed it

- New peace deals. Now 9 AI levels instead of the previous 5 (so one new level added between each of the earlier ones). Peace levels are now:
o 0: White Peace (give up nothing)
o 1: Armistice (1/2 gold, 1/2 of max GPT)
o 2: Settlement (all gold, max GPT)
o 3: Back-down (all luxuries, all gold, max GPT, open borders)
o 4: Submission (all resources, all gold, max GPT, open borders)
o 5: Surrender (one city)
o 6: Cession (1/4 city value, 1/2 gold)
o 7: Capitulation (1/3 city value, all gold)
o 8: Unconditional Surrender (all but capital, all gold)
- Peace deal code now prioritizes both cities that are close to winner's capital AND cities that were originally built by winning player (previously it was distance only).

ya, since there was 4 different teams there wasnt enough room that wasnt within range of hostiles, so none of the computers did anything

need to play a map with more than 2 land masses if you have 4 teams i think

i dont understand some citystate military ai

they have 4 pikeman within range to attack the enemy cossack, and on the citystates turn they do nothing except for shuffle the pikemans positions with each other, its like they just let the enemy unit sit there because each individual unit cant kill it, but the combined units could

well they have different aggressiveness levels from the start of the game, this one im talking about has been my ally all game, first time i was at war the citystate took over an enemy city, and then the second time we went to war (with the same civ) he just let the civ take back its city and moved pikemen around

my mind just got blown by the ai

im attacking from the south at the russian capital, moscow, and he has cities north, northeast, northwest, and west of moscow

i move the majority of my army into the center to capture the capital, he offers little to no resistance, once its captured troops start swarming out from every city toward the capital, we trade ownership of the city 3 times (population halves each time, defense goes way down), and i eventually have to pull out because the loss of my melee units from being in the captured city, now he is retaliating on my southern city

not sure if ingenious AI or just confused AI

there are 5 ironclads in the lake, i cant take any city without first killing all the ironclads which would put me in range of being bombarded by cities and the constant reinforcements

its like every 1-2 turns, every city churns out a new military unit for this ai civ
meanwhile, my units have to spend that turn just moving further toward the city or recuperating damage taken from killing the unit the ai had there before

once the units base strength start getting up in the 50's, terrain bonuses and all the multiplicative mods really suck

no amount of artillery can defend against infantry with +25% and +10%

catherine has wanted her one original city that she lost to my allied citystate, then took back, then i took

she has wanted that city for peace, which is the level of peace above "give me all your other shit and keep your cities"

i really dont want to give her that city since its in a central area and has lots of resources, but i know the longer i wait the closer i get to having it nuked

and after our 10 turn peace she can easily take back the 4 other cities of hers that surround said city
