have dual spec with 2 sets of gear both viable for intro raiding in 8 hours

note to self, blizzard has made so many changes to boat/zeppelin system, the terrain they are at, and the zones they go to, that its not even convenient to use any more

new battleground temple of kotmogu is pretty amazing

Temple of Kotmogu is a new 10 person battleground introduced in Mist of Pandaria.

Objective:
There are 4 "Orbs of Power" that can be picked up by a players. While the orb is held you earn points for your team. First team to 1600 points win.

Orbs of power:
Once an orb of power is picked up it can not be dropped or transferred. Upon death it will be returned to it's original location.

While held the Orb also grants the player certain buffs.

Increase damage done by player by 30%

Increase damage received by player by 5%

Reduces healing received by 10%
However the value of these buffs increases the longer the player holds the orb. Thus making it increasingly hard to hold onto the orb, It is unknown whether there is an upper limit to these values or how quickly they increase. However I will say from personal experience they can become quite high.

Earning points:
The amount of points you receive from holding an orb is determined by where you on the map you are. The closer to the center of the map an orb holder is, the more points they earn for their team.

When an orb carrier is killed the opposing team gains a small number of points.

General tips:

Protect your orb carriers. They can be killed very quickly and heals are less effective.

Focus on enemy orb carriers. Unlike many PvP scenarios, focusing the Orb carriers and not the healers is more effective.

While holding an orb, eating still restores health at a normal rate - between battles make sure to eat up, don't expect heals

Hold the orb as close to the center of the map as you can without putting yourself in danger of being killed.

Do NOT take orbs the outer edge of the map. You earn very few points and it is very hard to defend.

Remember to watch for un-held orbs that can be picked up!

Do not be disheartened if your team is behind - You can catch up!

the enemy targets are in a small square in the middle of the map, they have giant pillars of light coming out of them, and the damage debuff means its more effective to attack them instead of having to hunt down their healers first

with this random bg bonus points, and super fast queue, honor gain is so fast compared to older expansions

how bad did blizzard kill the healing power of non-healing spec characters?

i have 330k life, flash of light heals 30k, and i can cast 2 flashes before draining all my mana

bubble is basically the same thing as ice block now

new mine cart map is pretty cool, theres a middle cart spawn that spawns carts that follow 3 paths that terminate in a deposit shaft. whoever controls the cart (same control mechanics as a tower in eots, number of people in range differential controls how fast control shifts) when it goes down the shaft gets points for it

so both controlling the center where all the carts spawn is important, but you can also hijack a cart as its nearing the end of the line and take its points if each individual cart isnt defended

would be nice if blizzard could balance the healers in bgs

i dont really care if i have to wait 3 minutes instead of 30 seconds between queues, a team of 9 dps and 1 healer cant beat a team of 7 dps and 3 healers at arathi basin

1-300 alchemy done, about 750 gold, could have been a shitload more buy i got pretty lucky on availability of things

1-500 done, about 1700g for the whole time, minus whatever i get from reselling leftovers/potions

these new bgs can be so enraging, simply because of the definition of what they are

battle of gilneas, 3 base arathi basin for 10 people, whichever team caps the 2nd base (equal distance from both spawns) will probably win the game. when theres a 30 second respawn directly at the node and a 10 second flag cap, even if you bring an attacking force of 8 people to a defending force of 5, unless you can fully wipe them out and hit the flag, you get respawned on and eventually the attackers die and take too long to get back into the fight

times when your team is just clearly outmatched in skill/gear by the other players, its even more frustrating than AB, because theres no way to exploit the tactics of the other team and ninja cap a base, its just too dumbed down and impossible to play solo

plus its basically impossible to mount a coordinated attack in a random teamed battleground

the meta strategy for isle of conquest right now is so bad. out of the 40 people in the bg, about 30 of them rush the docks, surrendering both the workshop and hangar to the horde, on purpose. its gambling the entire bg win or loss on the fact that 2 glaive throwers with horrible hp will not be killed by the horde long enough to knock down the doors before the enemy's workshop demolishers/air drops do

so theres 30 people guarding these glaive throwers, and horde sends 5-10 people in to kill the glaives (suicide mission to damage only the glaive throwers and no players), and since glaive hp is so low, they kill them before the 30 people can defend

meanwhile the other 30 horde are right outside the ally base planting bombs on the gates and ready to charge in as soon as the gates go down

horde bg bots all over the place at 7am

once it became clear that the entire enemy team was content sit on 1 base and not attempt any offense, i sat and watched them from a hill for a few minutes, then saw how close i could get before the script had them attack me, turns out they are afraid of water

decided on another day off

updated, got my 4 piece welfare honor pvp set

if i finish off my 2200 weekly cap on conquest points, i can buy the epic helmet to complete the main set. without doing any arena/rated bgs, i would need to win 32 more random bgs, which would be enough honor to finish off all my accessories too

gear getting better, damage getting better every bg, playing temple bg like a champ (controlling middle, holding orb, when my 3 minute cds are up i pop everything with extra orb damage boost and stomp shit out of their orb carriers then retreat, or die if the damage debuff is too high)

well the pvp gear system now is idiotic, even worse of a disparity than the last 2 expans. if you dont have a pvp weapon theres almost no possible way for you to kill a healer who does have one, and you sure as shit cant compete in a 1v1 fight against another dps who does have one

so epic pvp gear is mandatory to compete in any rated bg or arena, so if you havent been earning your max points per week since the start of the pvp season, youre gimped no matter what. in past expans, you could honor farm and get the honor set which would be more competitive against the people who had epic pvp gear, now its just insurance to not die in 2 hits automatically

simple fix, if the cap for points for people with 0 rating is 2000 per week, and you earned no points in the first 4 weeks of the season, you should be able to earn 10,000 points in week 5 and then 2000 per week after that

this system where the honor gear is so cheap and easy to get is just a ploy to make it seem like blizzard is catering to casuals, while the people who cap points every single week get their epic gear so they can still steamroll the people who bought the full honor gear, and the people with full honor gear can steamroll the people who havent earned full honor gear yet

if you havent been paying us subscription since 3 months ago, you are going to suck in pvp now and theres nothing you can do about it, better make sure youre subscribed when next season starts so you wont suck 6 months from now!

shocking news, blizzard still exploits players to feel obligated to maintaining a monthly subscription and playing daily/weekly

started late in an expansion/content patch and want to gear up quick by using your skill to compete in a raid you are undergeared but skilled enough to do well in? you certainly wont be able to get gear fast because other people in the raid most likely already have it, we automatically have carefully controlled amount of loot come to you when we feel best to keep you paying for more

enjoy your 1 piece per week, you should be ready for the last raid of this patch right before the next patch comes out and you start all over

in this thread i realize that everything blizzard tried to do to fix the problems in wrath in cata, actually made things worse
