Just curious on the thoughts of it here.

I think being against it the way we are now is silly. PED use is the future. The idea that it's unfair to the past players of other sports baffles me because by that logic all this sports training and medicine should also be made illegal because the past players couldn't have that either.

I'll post a response I made in a reddit thread.

Quote
Here's my thoughts. I think performance enhancing drugs are the future. And that we are silly to think that it isn't. As the future comes and the sports medicine field and just medicine in general progresses. More and more PEDs will be coming out. Even some with hardly any harmful side effects.
Athletes already have diets heavy in protein and the like. They have training regimens that push their body to the max. So are we doing to just deny medical advancement for the future? 20 years down the road, we just going to be like you can't have this medication that increases muscle or recovery growth that is pretty safe to take. We just going to say you can't do anything unless this organization considers it natural?
I think it's time for us to wake up and get over ourselves. PEDs are a apart of the future. And it means that not only are athletes going to be stronger and faster. They will recover faster. The game will become more and more competitive. Like Adderall is detected now because we don't want people to have a focus advantage. And Marijuana is still considered for detection.
And for all the mentality that they can't because it's unfair that the people who played back in the day didn't live in our time with this potential and it's unfair for players to do it now. We didn't exactly know that much about training as we do now. The surgeries and sports medicine technology we have now that they didn't. So they shouldn't be doing those things by that logic.
I'm sorry, I just think you need to get over yourself if you really believe PEDs are really that much a threat to the game.

i think lance armstrong is everything that is wrong in athletes, from arrogance to entitlement. with that said we may as well just accept that in 50 years we will be genetically enhanced beings and that the sanctity of sports is over.

Agree for the most part.

Yeah, Lance and other athletes who have lied and been dishonest are probably the biggest problem with the whole issue. If people just be honest about what they have done, people in the end come to respect that. But it's mainly just that mentality they can live under greatness and purity if they never got caught. When if they are just honest, maybe just maybe they would realize they are greatness anyways but they trick themselves into thinking that people will never give them a grain of respect so they lie and just be overall a joke.

does the fact that he still won the tour 7 times when all of his other competitors were using peds make him at all impressive?

so an athlete who ruins other athletes careers is okay, because they are both athletes.

Name one person whose life was ruined. Don't you dare name that other biking fag.

He has done so much for cancer (inspiring victims, raising money for research, etc.), what have you done besides be a hyper critical weasel that hates life?

Banned substance = banned substance.
As far as ped use goes, I really don't care. If its harmful it should be banned. If not then be my guest. I don't know about this sanctity of the game nonsense. As has been written about 100s of times, players should be evaluated within the framework of their era.

The funny thing with lance is that at least he made it so they only had to worry about one guy since he won every fucking race. The way they made it sound, you weren't gonna win against someone who was doping. So every winner in that era would have had to be erased.

so you judge him as an athlete, and not as the person that he became because of his success?

I try not to judge most athletes by the people that they are unless it will become relevant to their play as an athlete.
The guys raised millions of dollars for cancer. And he also stirred up a lot of other shit. I really have no fucking clue.
