5x5 205 sq complete

quads on fire

considering switching to 3x5 on bench, been stuck at 185 for a while even after deloads/form focus

had to do bounce reps my last two sets to fail at 185 today (5,5,5,4,4)

felt sore as fk yesterday and failed on everything

try again friday

consider moving to intermediate programming
i suggest 5/3/1 or texas method

Ok. What do you think of madcow? I will Google these other programs

id say its effective
i ran it for 8 weeks or so last year
i stalled really early (the first 4 weeks are a ramp up to your current rep maxes) because i was running it while cutting
so if youre going to do it i suggest eating at least at maintenance
otherwise its of similar structure to what youre doing now, if thats what you like.. aka lots more 5x5 :)

3 weeks of madcow, not even close to failing yet
hope this keeps up. 1x5 on heavy set is way easier than 5x5

i should hope not. did you read the program? youre not supposed to match your current 5RMs until at least the 4th week

I skipped the first 3 weeks, and moved up to week one being my max. My 5 rep max was 205, but I did 5x5 of it so 1x5 was easy.

it could be faster progress, but at least its progress. hopefully i can keep it up. if i am still lifting barbells for 3 years i could be in good shape for my 30s and hopefully maintain it.

end game goals are really to just be happy with my body and health. i dont need to be squatting 2x bodyweight or anything to be happy with myself.

still working toward 315 sq, 225 bench, 135 ohp

instead of saying you dont have time, try saying "its not a priority" and see how that feels

It feels the same because it isn't when compared to my career and family. But I'm going to keep going because I like the results and feeling of accomplishment.

Tried a friend's belt today on squat, definitely felt easier. I wonder if I should get one because I loved the feeling of safety in my lower back.
