i think a big part of it is because they take online orders ahead of time so people dont feel the need to wait outside. also, consdering a lot of people dropped a ton of money the week before at hotd.

just my guess? i bet if people knew they had the option to buy previous vintages it would be a different story. thats pretty badass you got some 08 and 09. im pretty jealous

ill toast to your super gz accomplishment and drink my last moms this evening

Friday is the date for my final "interview" for the brewing position. I feel pretty confident about the beers I produced for them. My fingers are crossed they are carbonated in time, otherwise I might be forced to take growlers.

i forsee it initially being primarily on-site consumption with very limited runs of bottles depending on the size of the system. there are many unknowns which will hopefully be hashed out friday.

Elevator Brewing Company Wicked Goat - Never again. I wonder if I just got a bad batch but it is the first ever beer I could clearly finish and had to pour down the drain.

And I have drank Steele Reserve, Hurricane, and Beast Ice.

It seriously came out about as horrible as possible. (at least imho). Some hipster in Reynoldsburg is currently the only other person
on BA to have reviewed it.

*I can't attest to him being a hipster, I just feel like they have to be.

Here is your friendly beer-related service announcement for the holidays.

The illusive, majestic, monk crafted and highly acclaimed westy 12 will be available in gift pack "bricks" that contain 6 bottles and a commerative glass. This is a "one-time" only export sale to assist the monks with renovations to the monestary and a last ditch effort to crush the westy black market.

It will be released exclusively at Total Wine stores on December 12th. Prices starting at $86 so id imagine $100 will be common place. Whike thats a hefty price, it comes out to like $12 a bottle or so depending on what the glass price is. clearly too horrible considering the black market price that starts at $40 a bottle. I for one will clearly be making this purchase mainly due to total wine being something unseen in PA. If anyone sees these and takes the plunge, id be curious to hear your opinion. Id be even more curious if you did a side by side comparison of westy, rochefort 10 and bernardus apt 12. I already have a strong opinion and dont want to influence.

"vinegar" would lead me to believe your bottle was infected. Also, your other descriptors dont match up with what the other reviewer states. Its very probable that its infected. Thats the risk with barrel aging anything.

unless it does clearly sell then you can find the stoic or holy fig black butte xxiv for months

Oak (well, wet wood in general) is the perfect habitat for beer spoiling organisms. I have had plenty of barrel aged beers that tasted good at first release but rapidly declined as they sat in the bottles.

Off the top of my head the following breweries have all recalled or at least acknowledged releasing beer they thought was good but after the fact it was brought to their attention that there was widespread infections: Alpine brewery, Shorts, Deschutes, Oakshire, East End, Laughing Dog, Midnight Sun...there are more but im having a brain fart. Deschutes had an infection with 300 barrels (25,000 22oz bottles) worth of Abyss their barrel aged imperial stout in 2009 that also existed in their barrel aged barleywine mirror mirror. After the problem was reported they had a sensory panel do blind tastings and their lab guys chemically test samples. They identified the problem as the barrels. Since that event, they have started pasteurizing the barrels (and i believe the beer once it is removed and ready to be bottled.)

deschutes has decided they dont care about the locals when it comes to abyss
unless it does clearly sell then you can find the stoic or holy fig black butte xxiv for months
mad, have to drive all over portland tomorrow it seems

though my local spot would sell me a case when they finally get it (if)

well...if you're going to portland/belmont tomorrow
scope out the upright bottle situation

what are you looking for from them? since i dont care for sours i basically ignore them :(

is it wrong that i have regular access to racer x and ive never been overly impressed?
granted it never super fresh in salem, but never super old either.  if its within a few weeks ill certainly pick one up for science.

oh no...its in the bottle now and shit has changed?
ive only ever had it on draft or growler

its been a while since i had it last, maybe its better than remembered
but i dont recall it being anything overly spectacular. guess ill buy it again.
