quite tasty, housed the entire bottle in under 20mins it seemed last night

how many batches of this have they made?
one would hope/assume they have modified the recipe and improved it from what i remember

dan only had 12 minutes to enjoy the taste, the during those 12 minutes he said it tasted great straight out of the bottle

Yesterday's cause for having a hangover:

User Image

I drank every year of Troeg's flying mouflan that was ever released.
From left to right.
2007 bottle from the original "scratch" release.
2008 there was no batch.
2009 first release called "Mouflan" along with 2010, 11, 12 all bombers.
2013 was no bottle release, draft only so I got a 32oz growler.

The label states 9.3% abv for each year. 2011 and 2012 tasted significantly more alcohol forward than the other years. 2013 was still quite hoppy and that helped to hide the alcohol. 2007 and 2009 were the best, wish I had more.

kind of a rando statement but i know this applies to the interests of more than 1 person here (joe, gary, dan?)

Jubel 2010...for being a "once a decade ale" it is surprisingly bland and dare I say boring. It honestly tastes exactly how I remembered it did 2 years ago with seemingly no change whatsoever for the good or bad. Is that a mark of brewing brilliance or disappointment? Im clearly sure what i think about it.

i had one last year and i thought it was good, clearly great but really good. i felt like it had blended a bit more than release date, but then again when jubel was released i was just starting to drink craft so it could just be my tasting ability changed.

After drinking a bottle over the 4th of July, I got around to uploading my review yesterday which is what triggered my memory to poop here. I went on to Deschutes website to see what they had to say about the beer. "Intensely flavored" is what they call it. Evidently it was also aged in red wine barrels which i dont pick up on that at all.

Dont get me wrong, it isnt bad. I think I would just rather invest the time/money in old stock :rog:

Thats only because you're white. They are also gasping because breathing is probably hard since most likely they weigh 400lbs

The fact that this beer comes in a large format bottle is proof Founders is trolling us.
Worst beer I had in awhile. Its like candied pepper jelly.

It continues to baffle me that the "limit" you can purchase is an entire case. Like the first 60 people in line arnt going to buy it all up and laugh at everyone else who stood in line for 3 hours for nothing.

I wonder if this is a "test" to see if it reduces the amount of people who get in line X hours early. IE: if the place is open for business until 9 which is when they close to ready for the bottle share, will people only start lining up at 9? Just a wild guess honestly as I have obviously never been to hotd, jus trying to understand the logic.

in part, i get it. this makes it easier to get the special release beer to your regular customers. but like you said, its the case limits that make it so you really dont give a shit about getting your beer out to a large number of people. its an interesting way to do this to say the least. im going to poop on ba about splitting a case if someone will attend. im clearly driving up to portland and hanging out at a bar for a few hours before heading back out to drive home. so unless i want to get a hotel or sleep in my car... still a very interesting way to limit the outsiders stealing your beer...
