i can hate you and be tolerant of you. i can actively work to stifle against your world views but still allow you to speak those views. i can even boycott you because of your views, but as long as you are free to voice your views then you have been tolerated.

that's all america guarantees, the right to a voice. clearly freedom from repercussion from your voice.
