So for awhile now I have been wondering how many people would be interested in joining a TF2 league or maybe start scrims against other teams.

I believe CAL open, OGL, and a few other leagues have started their open enrollment the beginning of this month for Season 2 TF2 in the format of 6v6 7v7 and 8v8.

If there is enough interest I would like to move forward with our registration into a league. I know we are going to be a joke as a team until we log several more hours of play time together, but we have the perfect enviroment ready for us considering we have the DC server. Having the server and getting involved in the scriming scene could prove beneficial for multiple reasons. Not every clan has their own server at their disposal like we do and there is always the possibility of us getting donations from other teams we scrimage for using the DC server.

If this is something you would be interested in, let me know by either posting here, pming me on jsp or send me a message on AIM.

meaning he is a poor teammate, or collectively we are a shitty team?

either way it seems sins, dan, and you on friday nights before you pass out are the only dc folks that I regularly play with. I have hope for adam as firework season is drawing to a close. josh will be back once he realizes d2 is not all that fun. task/tek I have no hopes for.

I stopped playing because I dedicated the past 7 years of my life to gaming and I got sick of it. That and every time I check, nobody is on.

But I'd be interested in league play, I used to play in STA/IGL and all that good stuff back in the TFC days so I know a decent amount about that stuff. Certain leagues play on certain days, except I think OGL which is open challenges? unless that changed in the past couple years..

I also stopped playing because TF2 pales in comparison to TFC and other CTF/Quake type games

because one guy could make the difference, TF2 is impossible to do anything on your own due to excessive amounts of damage done by every gun, best friend crits and negative movements

Basically, it lacks grenades and replaced them with the retarded idea of Critical Hits.

imo, it should not be about 1 person. I think this is why I actually like tf2. mass carnage and a real team aspect.

how geeky does this make us?

I think it is about a geeky as paying for your own tf2 server but not as geeky as enjoying ladder slasher.

I am ok with this

btw, big maps, 6v6 or even 8v8 (i.e. scouts run wild) may not be my strong suit :donno:

but at the same time it made it intense, because one guy could come in and fuck up your entire defense, or just use grenades to jump in and steal your flag in a matter of seconds.

now you need a medic, or a friend if the other side has multiple sentries
if only one sentry then it is possible

ive always said that i prefered that, having an impact on the map instead of just killing 5 people who are then immediately replaced by 5 more at the same spot
but donno donno

if you die your teammates have to step up their performance to make up for you until you can get back in action

we arent talking about counter strike here
its a normal tf2 match, all standard respawn and everything

and i guarantee you playing an organized CTF match would be a whole new level of fun

TFC was just as team oriented, though you rely less on medics and more on teamwork

watch some of the highlight clips people made, easily the best CTF game ever, so simple but so fast paced and intense

I prefer the cp maps anyway though, more fun imo coming up against 4 sentries, having a group come in and terrorize it, destroy it all, and take the point. atm lazytown may be my favorite map because of this.

I would be down for this as well, need to practice ofc

Ofc, everyone needs practice working as a team on the differnet maps instead of just the usual DC free for all rampage on the usual maps. While most of us have logged several hours playing together, we have never really worked together in a team-like organized fashion.

I suppose we would have to specialize in classes to, yes? at least all have 2 classes we would be based on who is currently playing etc?

im guessing I would be the #1 sniper :donno:

where do i sign

Before registration, I was going to ask if some of you could take the time to find out some of the details about the different leagues that are available. Find out things such as:
How many players can be registered for a team?
What maps?
What day of the week/weekend the matches take place.

While I am sure there will probably be several of us who want to participate, during the week or only the weekends might be an issue for some of us. We need to know what the match schedules are like and what our own individual schedules look like.

Initially, I was thinking that if 8 people were interested, we should probably only sign up as a 6 or 7 player team with the extra person or 2 as ringer(s). I would be willing to offer to sit out if everyone wanted to play, I do not have a problem with that. I would however, not like to sign up with too many people and then us risk not having enough people on a match night if someone is not available.

If any of you would like to take the initiative to find out some of the information about the different leagues, I would appreciate it. Else I will start to collect the necessary info mentioned-above when I get home this evening.
