It was $15 (and playable) before it was released. It's also gotten pretty bad reviews from CS enthusiasts who still prefer 1.6 over source and GO.

the problem with playing the original is that everyone else who still plays that game is amazing at the game and you are worthless

I like this game, I feel like I can actually be competitive in it.
Arms Race is a fun mode, also.
