Even before Arod had the steroids Griff was head and shoulders better. In his prime not only was he the most feared hitter in the game but the best defensive center fielder and he could steal bases. Arod could only hit.
IIRC arod ran a lot in seattle, but not so much in tex, and not as much in NY because hes over the hill now
he just isnt that great of a fielder, never really has been
1. arod ran in seattle cuz they didnt have as much power and needed to produce runs more, even though there was grif and edgar. in texas they were a slugging team and slugging teams never run
2. he was/is not a bad fielder. he was a premier ss, and moving to 3rd is not as ez as some will have you believe. while range is less important at third, his range is pretty good at third. but 3rd relies more on reaction time and instinct, which only comes with practice.
