and kurt warner has ?
osteoporosis. but i also think he brings a special attitude to the game that's really unique. maybe his adversity gave him something special. i think character alone can change the game. i don't think there's any definitive syllogism that will prove a point about how he's changed football. i think he's 2nd all-time in pass completiion percentage, but that doesn't really say a lot to me. it speaks to talent, not influence or character. i believe thoroughly that "a man's character is his fate" and the rest is decided by chance or death (or physical/mental disability).

i liked kurt
he's a class act who kept coming back after getting the shaft from teams that didn't allow him to fully realize his talent. he's one of the greatest football players of all-time.
He sure made Leinart his bitch.
Although, Warner>Bulolger
He may belong in a crypt but he's > most quarterbacks who've played the game. He has flat-out talent, which is pretty hard to find. A lot of guys are spoon-fed but he has his own game. One of the reason why I like Favre is that he also has his own game. I think Manning is more of a product that a creator, but he's obviously one of the all-time best as well. One thing I can't stand in basketball (shifting sports now) is that even in the NBA a lot of guys are just big athletic bodies who pretty much operate mechanically. Guys like Kobe Bryant have the mechanics to do the job, but they posses a lot of other special qualities that you can't teach. I think Warner has unteachable qualities, or maybe things only experience can provide.
You just said Kurt Warner has his own game and then said Manning is a product. This is exactly why nobody has any respect for canadians.
I don't see much novelty in Manning's game. Nothing against him--he's a fantastic quarterback. But I don't think he changed the game at all.
You should probably not log back in. I don't know if you are retarded. But Peyton is the one who perfected the scheme of the "no-huddle" offense. He probably has the highest football IQ of anyone in the league and debatable of all time.
Just because peyton is the quarterback that every coach wants doesn't mean he doesn't have his own style. Peyton Manning's style is being extremely accurate and having a good arm and also having an amazing understanding of the game.
I am a huge fan of Kurt Warner but Peyton Manning isn't a product of the system.
Peyton Manning is the BEST player and talent in the game. Not only does he have the talent he has the drive and motivation.
you know i'm not retarded. manning certainly made his mark on football, but i still think he was sort of standing on the shoulder of giants. he's self-taught and he also picked up all the stuff he was fed through his career. but i never saw anything special about him that really leaves much of a mark, outside of a pack of records.
"I've only had the privilege of being around one other person that I can say was close to him and that was (Hall of Fame running back) Walter Payton," Graves said. "I think when you have an extraordinary player and one who is just as extraordinary off the field, then you realize you were in the presence of someone special."
^^ not sure if the same might be said for manning. i'll grant him points for working on his no huddle offense, but i'm not sure it's anything new. perfection isn't invention. taking the tools u have and using them isn't going to make a big difference. that's my impression, and it's basically the impression that there's nothing novel about his approach to the game. and so i don't know if he made any big change.
it's like in basketball one could say that tim hardaway changed the game (a bit, not much tbh) but tim duncan hasn't changed the game at all. tim duncan is the better player, but imo his influence on the game isn't very impressive. he's physically gifted, he's a hard worker, he has a huge list of stats and records, etc. but he didn't change the game by means of character or ability. and he has a great IQ for the game of basketball. and actually one can argue that kobe bryant has the best basketball iq of all-time, but his actual biggest technical influence on the game is mostly a matter of how he plays in the foul line extended area--and i don't see a lot else, except for his skill level, hard work and his impressive change toward becoming a better team player. among active players i don't think he will have the greatest impact on the game of basketball. he has a lot of character, not all admirable, but he's like a speck of dust compared to michael jordan, pete maravich, or magic johnson when it comes to influencing the game (imo).
if you look at records and technical ability, manning is going to win every time over warner--but not by a huge margin with all things considered. then again i don't mind if my views do look a bit sideways. i've never considered winning and statistics the meaning of sport. to me it's about the characters and what they do and how they have effects on others and the game itself. donno ... i don't really mind disagreement but i hope this was an interesting read
