Freel was never more than a 4th outfielder.

Also Dunn is a flat out stud, BA is not everything. He consistently OPS' 900+ which is awesome

Oh dear Christ don't be fooled. His home runs usually come in 10-1 games when it doesn't matter. He's the king of the solo home run, and the king of striking out in prime situations.

BA isn't everything, no, but not striking out 200 times while (usually) being only a little above the mendoza line is. You go right ahead and take Dunn on your team...please do it. Guy is a joke. I'm sure there are Rob Deer apologists too.

posting in just another convo about dunn, who imo is one of the most overrated and useless players of our generation. 1 tool players would not even be in the league 50 years ago.

Can't run, can't field....can't hit consistently, but he sure as fuck can hit a long ass solo or two run hr when it doesn't mean anything.

Check his career splits on baseball reference, dude is the same player no matter who is on base etc. Oh other than the fact that he mashes when the bases are loaded or a runner on third with less than two out. Then he is a 1000 OPS+ player, aka elite.

Also you can check out his clutch stats where he is pretty consistent no matter the situation.

Consistently striking out? Consistently making errors in the field, or not even trying? Or consistently making sure he homers in games where they are either way up, or way down, so the run(s) don't matter?

He's terrible. He must have sucked you off pretty good to think he's anything but.

If he was such a great hitter with runners on, why is it his career high is 106 rbi? If he's such a great generator of offense...why is it his best run/rbi total for a year is 208?

You want to use Baseball Reference? Ok, fine. Why is it according to metrics THEY developed he's been rated as a reserve player (not even a starter) 3 times out of the last 4 years? The only year he's above right now is this year...

Seriously man. Dunn is garbage.

Do you realize how bad the Reds teams were of the entire decade he was there? They were so depleted of talent from Jim Bowden it took an entire decade to recover.

Also nobody is saying he is a good fielder, he is a 1B/DH with a big bat.

If you want more Dunn discussion open a new topic and we can debate, but for you to call him dreck is just naive or ignorant, maybe both.

well when you have Miguel Cario and Paul Janish replacing Votto and Rolen, then yeah no matter who that it is against, scoring 14 runs is stepping up

I'm rooting for your team to be good next year!

I honestly am, unless my Reds choke in the post season this year, then to hell with your team.

Scary part is they're not in last.

One of the worst teams of all time (for the Cubs) still isn't even the worst team in their division.

How stinky is Houston? Are they even using pro players?
