damndamndamndamndamn

1. they missed like 30 3 point shots (literally, it was horrible)
2. wall turned the wall over like a nervous wreck
3. it seems they forgot that they have COUSINS on the court--they should have fed him for a big game
4. underestimated the f*cking random left-handed back-up guard for wv
5. stupid STOOPID STOUOOOOOUUUOOOPID fouls

congrats to west virginia. it was a huge fluke win BUT they were well coached, they executed a half-decent on the fly game plan, and they played with a lot of poise and heart against a slightly bigger, slightly longer, more athletic and flat-out more talented team. basicaly it was a game that looked like some kind of weird destiny was taking over.

snce my top pick is now out, i'm going back to my roots to cheer on michigan state and to truly hope for butler to win it all (why not, shit happens?)

they shot well from the perimeter and played with good intensity. they played well on defense. the key to their success in any slow transition is to use their length to screw up any lazy passes, and to force dribblers to make decisions, rather than to dictate an offensive attack. they're a but more vulnerable in the post, but they can annoy the guards enouigh to make it difficult to get the ball inside. and that's exactly what they managed against kentucky.

they were either brilliantly coached or very fortunate or both. i don't want to take anything away from them when i say that uk is by far the better team. wv is still a really good team, and they showed a lot of depth in the game against uk. they have a chance at winning it all, but if they play duke they'll be the ones on the receiving end of a 3 point clinic. however, they're much more athletic than duke, so they have some options. i think they're better than msu and i don't know how to judge butler right now, since they're on a roll and there's no sense making predictions about teams that (may) just have it at the right moment.

donno, i always take a cerebral approach to predicting wins. you can't predict how tough a team will be against a particular opponent, how nervous or pumped players will be etc.. if wv plays like they did against uk against anyone else they'll get the exact same result, 100x over. there are NBA teams that wouldn't lol at the prospect of having to beat uk, e.g.. but wv did it convincingly, even if they had to be lucky.

if u mean wall, he still played well. he just didn't take care of the ball as well as he should've. he's young, but he's a smarter player than he made himself appear vs wv. maybe he's just the type to brain fart in a big game becuase he's still developing.

i've hated duke since grant hill left them.
he was such a great player until he got hurt over 9000 times. i think he'd be able to compete with wade, lebron and kobe by now if he'd stayed healthy and worked hard. he was never a beast but he's always had a lot of gifts. except luck with injuries.
