all a guy like moss does is show younger players that if you are really good you dont have to work hard and play hard every day or down

the flip side is that if people younger players work hard enough to be as good as randy moss (just like he did), then taking a few plays off wouldn't hurt. i still don't think he's a huge slacker though. maybe vince carter would be that kind of guy if he was in the nfl ... oh wait, vince carter is afraid of contact.

while i appreciate the vince carter humor i dont believe players get reputations for nothing

i do. don't get me wrong, moss takes plays off and he is a suck at times (and plays like he's a suck at times), but overall, i think he's probably one of the hardest working wide receivers in the game. one of the big reasons why the nfl media started to hate moss has to do with his departure from the vikings (to the raiders). everyone was bitter. he did have a crappy attitude, which fueled further criticism. but i think the criticisms were too harsh--especially those about his game, and secondarily those about his overall effort.

it's hard to see how he can both be a slacker and work as hard as he's worked to get where he is as an athlete. he has physical gifts but he came out of poverty and adversity and desperately wanted to make something of himself on the field. he couldn't get anywhere without hard work. gonna copy/paste this wall as a testimony to the fact that he must've put some effort into his game at some point:
