The Red Wings signed free agent goaltender Jared Coreau of Northern Michigan University to a three-year entry level contract..
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Coreau, 21, started all 38 games for NMU (CCHA) this year and finished 15-19-4, with a 2.70 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.

Love reading those 'scouting reports' about Pulkkinen. People still think he is some sort of shoot-first guy with a ridiculous slap shot. In reality, this season he played a lot as a playmaker and didn't use his booming shot that much (which was unfortunate in a sense, he had the fastest slap shot in the entire team and should be a force to be reckoned with on NHL level). He also played better defensively, preparing for North America and Wings' style of hockey of course. He started the season kinda slow but after Karlsson and V. Filppula left, he was the best player on ice a lot of the nights (I. Filppula's knee injury and Moses cooling down might have had something to do with this). I also think he is more physically fit for NA than Mikael Granlund for example. Just wondering why he hasn't been sent to Grand Rapids since Jokerit's playoff run was ended rather quickly. Järnkrok was sent to Griffins as soon as he was available IIRC.

Well, obviously HFboards is full of morons, but those scouting reports have some truth to them. He's a talented puck handler, and that's quite valuable in the league he's playing in. More or less, everyone in the NHL needs to be a good at making plays and moving the puck, but against elite goaltending, a powerful and accurate shot is going to be a huge asset compared to good playmaking skills. He's currently playing in a league where a guy like Ilari Filppula is also a good puckhandler and playmaker, but those skills won't necessarily translate to the NHL as well. A hard, accurate shot is something that will be much more valuable in the NHL than decent playmaking skills, even if he hasn't been using it recently, it's something they'll want him to use much more in the NHL.

Are the Red Wings or Stars going to make the 8th seed?

I hope the last game of the season between the two determines it. We will have to bet many FPs Spencer.

Rangers are looking good.

Andrew Ladd also owns and I hope Winnipeg makes the playoffs too because it's Winnipeg in the Southeast division and Andrew Ladd is a beast.

update, columbus has to lose their other game, they only have 2. one of their 2 losses can be in overtime
dallas still has to win out either way. 3 games against san jose, columbus, and closing out with detroit

in all likelihood dallas will beat columbus but lose to detroit so the hawks will have detroit first round

you could never be a dick

but really, the realignment is odd since they are breaking up this historic rivalry. i get that they kinda had to to keep the divisions equal, otherwise you get a 7/8 in each conference instead of the 7/7 and 8/8. its really the one casualty to this. i guess we will just each have to make it to the cup more often for old times sake.
