pg: magic - im a bit torn on the pg, but magic really takes the cake due to size. honorable mention nash or stockton. nash for creativity and stockton for great mistake-free play
sg: jordan
sf: bird - proal lebron when its all over for him but too soon to say best ever imo. and larry bird split his career between sf and pf so i get the argument is you dont put him here. dr j honorable mention.
pf: duncan - i think you have to go duncan, karl and
c: shaq. hakeem for the moves but nothing competes with shaqs dominance

As you said, I went with Magic due to his sheer size at point guard. He was a big man playing the point, you don't see that much anymore (Nash, Kidd, Paul, Williams, Stockton, etc.), most point guards tend to be smaller, quicker archetype.

Jordan is obvious.

Small Forward is arguably the toughest one to call, there have been so many over the years that it's a toss up.

I'm going with Tim Duncan just based upon his career winning percentage, his attitude, what he brings to both ends of the floor, each and every game of his entire career.

And I went with Shaq at his prime, due to his size, he was incredible when he was at the height of his career. Obviously there have been some great ones, Wilt and Bill Russell would be my other choices, I just don't know if they have the size the new NBA requires.

PG Stockton (when he is surrounded by this much talent, he is a better pick than Magic in this case)
SG Jordan
SF James
PF Duncan (He is the best all around forward that has ever existed)
C Shaq Obviously

And also, I'd potentially leave out Duncan and run James in the PF position but run a 3 guard type offense with Jordan/James/Bryant.

you wouldnt have any defense in the post. sure, you have length but any good pick and roll team would eat you up without an extra big man.

As good as Stockton was, having Magic at the point is a million times better.

Keep in mind magic was a player who could play all five positions on the floor, and play them well. I suppose if all you expect your pg to do is pass the ball and get 10-15 points a game, provide no rebounding, and not be so versatile to play and defend any spot on the court, then sure.

My only concern with the games pioneering stars is this: can they measure up to today's athleticism?

I think the process of raising a kid to go to AAU camps and playing ball his entire life, the hormones in the food, variable etc., has increased the talent and athleticism by leaps and bounds over yesterday.

I'm not trying to take away from Wilt the Stilt or Doctor J or anyone else, I just didn't get a chance to see them play (except for what's available on internet clips). I am obviously biased because I got to see most of my list in their prime.

not saying he is the best pg ever, however if i was going to have a team with three pure scorers like jordan bryant and bird i would like a point guard who can play defense, rebound while having top dog court vision.

im with you on this. I can't imagine bird (a god in his day) being able to match up against lebron.
also, holy fucking nostalgia with AAU! I used to love packing up for the weekend to go play in philly vs giant black dudes and get fucking murdered almost all of the time

but idk who'd handle the ball if iverson isn't on the team.

alternatively i want revis or cromartie as a lockdown 2, megatron at the 3, howard at the 4, gronk at the 5 and i guess fitzgerald/marshall at the 1, feel like everyone could play 1-4 if needed
