Tanking them to the side only causes adds from those close piles not to spawn, the other piles should still spawn something after the heart is killed, but only once.

Lucky, bomb bots should be killed, Assault bot should be taken out after those. (At least what I've read for hard modes)

Or you could be like my guild, and be assigned to the bots, then decide your DPS on the boss is more important, and have several bomb bots destroy melee including the OT's holding the Pummelers.
