I'm doing P90x, with about 3 weeks down now. My goals are basketball-related, and I'm looking at better agility and vertical jump ability as my two main areas of improvement, along with cardio maintenance. I'm feel like I've got better core strength and timing in my game already. I'm getting more blocks (at 5'11" lol), but I'm not sure I'm jumping any higher. Just hoping for no microtear injuries ofc.

I may add pics once I go through the program (before, during, after). I feel a difference, and I think I see some difference in my physique already. The youtube videos really highlight what it does to your body, but in my case the difference will show up more in sport performance. Some of the workouts are really awesome, and if someone goes through the program and doesn't get improved balance and core stability, then I guess that person was a Shaolin monk or something for the last thirty years. It's a good fat burner, too. Where it fails is in muscle-building. It will build muscle, but not as fast as either a power-lifting program or heavy resistance geared toward bodybuilding.

Can you do this along with weight lifting?

Yep, it includes weight lifting but more could be added.

The cardio work in P90x is pretty good. I think the strongest point in P90x is that it's full of semi-explosive cardio. If I wanted to build muscle, P90x wouldn't be my top choice. I'm 191 pounds with 13.8% body fat, which means muscle gains are a reasonable priority, but for now I just want to improve my mobility. I don't really need to lose fat, but I hope to get down below 8-9% by the end of my basketball season just on the basis of hard work alone. If you're concerned about visuals, cardio and weight lifting combined are ideal. P90x is actually pretty good for visuals, but not so much for muscle building in a 90 day cycle.

I need to lose weight and get back into better shape, which is why I am going to go on this till I cant get anymore gains in lifts, and then perhaps try something like P90x just to keep variety

P90x (as long as you follow it) will definitely help you lose fat, get in better shape but thats how most routines work anyway.

if you want to get in better shape start squatting if anything, this way you'll also gain muscle

I believe the word you are looking for is credible.Either way i did not claim to be, however my coach who writes my workouts is.He actually the state chairman for the USAPL.He's trained state champions and people who have even competed at the worlds. Then again some random guy on the internet probably knows more then him.Good day sir :)
