the govt being lassiez-faire is what caused the collapse of the mortgage industry

no, it was the retarded banks handing out sub-prime loans like candy on halloween
which was brought on by bill clinton legislation

just because he allowed them to lend a higher percentage of their liquid assets does not mean he wanted them to start creating all those fancy ARMs that basically fucked people once houses stopped appreciating 20% every 3 years

george could have stopped that if he wanted to, but he choose not too. and dont blame the loans given to the poor. its the ARMs that fucked the lending industry, nothing more or less
giving banks more power to loan out more is retarded, and you know this. youre all high and mighty on the rich getting richer, where are you to frown on this.

plus what the fuck happened in 1928, i forgot. was that escalated by overloaning banks

i didnt say i agreed with it
but with the lending practices then allowing them an extra 10% (i think thats what it was) didnt seem too bad. but the minute houses started jumping up in price banks saw a way to start capitalize on the fact people could change houses every 3 years and ARMs looked gr8 for that
not to mention no one was holding banks accountable and people were either stupid and/or misinformed and signed their name to the dotted line

they would have been fine under their current lending practices
but they are not capable of restraint so some should have been added

when you give banks that extra 10%, its like making that money out of nothing

its no surprise everything got falsely inflated

they didnt give them more money, just allowed them to overextend themselves more
which should have not been used on loans that had a 99% chance to default if the market changed at all

right, it theoretically doesnt give them more money

but it puts way more money out into the system that doesnt exist

10% is a lot of money

seeing as banks are the root of all evil and the root of almost every financial crisis in this country

id say mark them up 30% on what they can dish out, and heavily regulate them.

us conservatives, we like success

As an American, I think that the banks should have been regulated against much stronger.

As a liberal, I would like to see the policy makers, lobbyists, and profiteers from this crisis be publicly executed for treason against the United States of America to set an example of what will happen if you want to be greedy.

In this scenario, yes, in many others, it also holds true.

If they attained the wealth by legitimate means, that's fine, I am refering to the lobbyists, corporations, & politicians that are all in each other's pockets.

probably not, but when you take the bailout you basically get owned by the government

federal reserve system causes the problem, they encourage and enforce

if you have free market banking these kinds of panics/depressions go away, but then there isnt one single currency that everyone pays there taxes in, so the government has issues because of all the money laundering/tax evasion (which IMO is fine, but some people would not like)
