Heres the deal... i need to be interested / look interested in whats going on with my wedding for next summer
so, from your wedding experiences, what kind of unique stuff have you seen at weddings that actually were fun / exciting / etc - besides an open bar

all we do at indian weddings is dance;
but ofc in itself people are always impressed cuz the groom comes in on a horse

but mad dessert is always good
and if you can get an outdoor part, that would be good

the outdoor part is covered. the place we're planning on having it has this big outdoor courtyard area

the photobooth idea is pretty good. do you have a budget in mind for the reception?

at my cousins wedding each table had a scrapbook page with questions the entire table collectly would answer (i.e. funny or embarrassing story about bride/groom, best moment at that specific table during the reception, etc). then each table would head outside at some point during the reception and have their group picture(s) taken (polaroid and digital) and then hand over the pic/info to some attendant who then made it into a scrapbook for the couple. For what it's worth, i think it's a pretty good idea since at my wedding i never got around to every table to say thx and what not, so having something everyone else participates in can be a good backup plan.

Also, if she has specific colors picked out for bridesmaids dresses, flowers, etc. set up a candy station with similar colors. One wedding i went to had the colors green/pink and one table was devoted entirely to candy: various shades of green/pink jellybeans, starburst, gummy candy, sour patch kids. you name it, it was there.

I'm sure my wife has some other ideas, but those were the two i remembered and thought, "hey, that's a pretty cool idea". hope this helps.

At one of my cousin's weddings they put a disposable camera on every table, so that they could get some non-photographer shots from the wedding. But if theres a photo booth, I think thats too much picture stuff.

could hire these guys for your wedding band? Honestly though I have yet to go to a wedding that has something that made me go "wow thats pretty neat"
open bar usually does that for me, although one had a full mini casino going on at the reception that was pretty cool.
