while digging through my step moms purse to answer her phone i stumbled upon some aluminum foil which incased around 100-150 generic 50mg morphines

my dad works very hard to keep her happy and all she does is blow him off, she stays out let, goes to bars, and now we know where her money is going to

can i please get some advice on who to tell? if anyone? i've told a friend and my real mom.
it just seems really shitty when your family does opiates, kinda hypocritical of me to say cause i used to be addicted but yeah just please give me some feedback

you have a responsibility to either confront her or your dad (id say your dad)
as shitty of a situation as it is, and will be, not telling him is even worse. he may be ok with it, he may not. but at least by telling him its his choice, and not a choice made for him.

good luck and god speed

if you really love your dad, convince him to divorce that crackwhore
there is no need to tell you that when someone starts with those heavy stuff, it can be only worse
if you will fail with dad, there is really nothing you can do, only move out and go on yourown
gl man, this is tough situation

i hear ya, life sucks sometimes
you cant think of the consequence between them. you need to tell him so he can make an informed decision, whether that is to help her, ignore it, or get in a huge fight and get a divorce. there is no happiness in a broken house. you could also look at it as he works all that time so she can pop pills? fuck that. just tell him what happened, what you found, and have a serious talk with him.

Is your dad working 2 jobs 60+ hours a week and she is then spending that money on drugs?

If so then definitely tell someone

Telling him can't really go well, but the result will make you both better off (hopefully).

I'm for doing the right thing, but I don't think there's any guy on a cloud we can drag down to show us the right thing to do. I value what makes life better, and it seems to me that someone who has a drug habit with bad consequences for family balance needs help. So do those living with someone with the habit. Ideally there's a way to support her emotionally (esp. in the long-term) while also preserving the possibility for a sane home life, too. Thing is, you need to care for yourself. If it were me in your shoes--and this isn't advice because that's impossible to know about anyway--I would speak to her first, then "my" father (ideally, with her co-operation). I think it would be an occasion for an ultimatum with the option for some emotional support. Mostly likely, she needs outside support as well. Otherwise, it will not end well for anyone. There's no way to live well with someone f*cking up your life, m8.

And in fairness, just because someone is an a**hole to others more often than not, that doesn't strip him (fully, I mean) of his humanity or his dignity. Usually there's something behind it, like a tough family life, etc. We're all responsible for each other, and in some cases I hope wounds can be put aside for sake of genuine care.

My uncle (lawyer) married a woman (sales rep) and everything was good for a few years. He was very reserved (doesn't drink much, doesn't smoke, doesn't take risks, etc.) and she was much more liberal (liked to party with my mother & our family at holidays, etc.), they were pretty good for each other. Several years down the road though, we noticed she developed a like for pills, she carried around a Skittles assortment of uppers & downers. Eventually things came to a head when she left him with $100,000 in credit card debt & was more or less prostituting herself out for drugs to a guy in a wheel chair. I believe he has divorced her but I'm not entirely sure, I haven't heard about the situation in a few months.

Hope that helps.

Bad habit. Wife keeps me tight-lipped around my son so I end up censoring myself for no apparent reason. Practice doesn't make perfect in this case: it just makes me look like an idiot.

Maybe you two have a deeper issue than I know about--I wasn't being categorical. Otherwise I guess there's a difference of opinion but your avatar made me forget my point here so ...yeah.

Usually there's something behind it, like a tough family life, etc. We're all responsible for each other, and in some cases I hope wounds can be put aside for sake of genuine care.
