i mean i told him it didnt really help the situation at all that we were both teary eyed

he said [to make the matter worse] that he saw painkillers that she had before in their rightful container and they were from her ex husband, who she met yesterday
what my dad put into perspective is she had just sold her house 14 months ago to move in with us and in that time all the money ($170,000) from her house is gone and she is now spending more than she makes a week

i thank all of you for the help, even you mos, ima try and not let my outside frustrations/hardships effect me when i log on here

so moral of the story is he knew, you confirmed it with him, and now that he knows you know he cant sidestep the issue like he may have planned on doing and you both will confront her?

True, not that I had a great impression from the poops I saw so far ofc. Then again even Gandhi would kick him in the balls for it before I would :(

Thought Raffles was saying this for a second--nearly bailed on my unshakable faith in the value of kindness.

this needs to be confronted by him, not you alone. if possible together and in a non-confrontational setting. she will ofc be pissed and react like she is being attacked. stay calm, offer help but with the firm understanding that if she does not seek actual help then its over. no consequences, no changes.

i say to offer help because one has to assume you both care for her to some degree, she is married to your dad.

i understand that but in a way its kind of like someone telling you that your wife is cheating on you. you isntantly are in denial but you are glad you know and can question it when you feel ready

I understand that but in a way it's kind of like making excuses for your father's complicity in her problems. You instantly are in denial but you can still question him and get him ready.

And what I mean is that it seems to me you care a lot about him, but in doing so if you shield him from what he really feels, then in the long run the healing process could take longer, as there's more time for him to get down about it instead of taking care of his feelings. That's just to add a perspective, not really a counter-argument. If you ask yourself what you want and demand it from the people you love (in an exercise of thought, not in practice yet), what are the outcomes? Because in the end you won't find happiness at the bottom of someone else's issues when they penetrate who you are. I don't know your whole story, but ideas like moving out/away, calling the police, seeking therapy, talking to friends, appealing to other relatives, confronting your mother-in-law (or you dad's g/f), confronting you father etc. could all be bubbling around. I hope you'll take care to observe all the options, both emotionally and in terms of actions. When confused, you can find reason beneath all the baggage.

thx rew, appreciate the advice
just want this to be over though, i wish my dumb ass wouldn't ever of found them, ideally i would love for her to get better, but if she cant come to grasp herself at an age where i look for a mom when i'm living with my dad then i think she needs to go.

i told my dad to tell her shes 43, not 20 anymore

be careful here to not put yourself in the middle of this thing too quickly. last thing you want is your dad to place any blame on you, even if its just his coping mechanism and is unintentional. but be completely honest with your dad about how you feel about this, and your expectations for what needs to be done. your dad needs to understand that he has a responsibility to you, as his child, above all else. and you need to understand that your dad is dealing with his wife, a woman he presumably loves, and that he may not be equipped to deal with this in the same way you would, or that we would. we dont have to live this, you 3 do. maybe he is afraid this is his last chance at not spending the rest of his life alone, and that must be a scary thought for him.

faketroll?
are you accusing me of making this shit up?
and jp, if you had something more important than getting drunk your first time, saying hi to rew, or making a lame pm to someone on here then i would probably poop honest feedback

ive seen nothing serious out of you except for that one where you held up some cash, but that was nothing i needed to give serious feedback about

but seriously, in this situation the only one self absorbed bastard is you
get down to the earth from clouds and look around beyond your sheltered life that most of ppl dont have everything prepared for their life by their parents
i'm not complaining about some work that i have to do in this life, merely i feel sorry for you
because if you will bump in your life on some real difficulties it will be very unlikely that you will be able to see it through, compared to guy who had to fight for they own happiness

still haven't read beyond first few lines of topic and replies to my poops

still dont care about your life any more then you care about mine

od;gc
tl;dr

what makes you think i dont care?
the only times ive ever seen you talk about your life is when youre bragging about your wealthy parents?

and no, i dont give a shit about always getting frees from mom and dad

I've never bragged about any achievment except my own.

Maybe if you/lance were less obsessed with that fact and wouldn't blindly throw it out you would realize this.

And we all know you're trolling, Rew/Joe apparently are just good people who will give you benefit of the doubt.

maybe he is afraid this is his last chance at not spending the rest of his life alone, and that must be a scary thought for him.

^^ Fair point you make here and in the first part of this.

@Raffles:

Of course, sometimes you can feel more alone in a crowd than on your own. A grown man and father should of course choose his own course--which in the end is usually laid out by his character anyway--but if someone may be given consolation in being with someone (that is, anyone), perhaps there is greater consolation in being without someone.

In the end each of us finds our own place on the moral atlas. I'm sort of off the map itself, because I'm more into ethics than morality. But the point remains the same. Read all the ideas you're given as you wish, but take the course best suited for your situation. A bad decision is a decision you can't live with, and sometimes you just end up stuck between a rock and a hard place. Just by talking about this you're taking responsibility for how you feel, to a degree. That's not always easy. Some things just can't end well, but there's wiggle room to find what's best in the long run.
