This weekend I picked wild fox grapes for my first wine. Took 4 hours to pick, clean and sort. Then another hour to mash them up. I only got like 2.5 gallons from 16 pounds of grapes...honestly FUCK that. No wonder 99% of the people who make wine just buy juice and don't use fresh picked fruit.
the wineries out here host events where they hand out food and some free wine and people come to pick/clean/mash the grapes for free. they get the most labor-intensive aspect to their job done for the price of a catered meal and some free booze.
