looked on bestbuy, newegg, and stuff, trying to find a quality netbook for my girlfriend preferably less than 350 bucks, something that is good quality for the price. if anyone knows about these things lemmeknow

thing is, girlfriends computer screen fucked up, and she cant use her lappy no more. she was gonna wait till black friday but cant now cuz she needs a computer today

so a couple of serious questions. Does 1.66ghz processor (single core) make any noticeable differeance vs 1.60?
how important is 2 gb vs 1 gb ram? for non-gaming purposes, is 667 mhz bus that much better than 500?

most important, would buying an off brand, like MSI, Acer or Asus with the same specs as toshiba, hp, sony, samsung, dell or gateway, make any difference? are chip qualities different or does it not matter

One would be able to argue strongely that noone cam tell the difference in processing powers in increments less than 600mhz.

I don't know what your gf is planning on using this laptop for to be able to answer any other questions.
IE what programs is she running to need another gig of ram. What OS is she gonna run?

Does the make/model make a difference? Not really but different companies have different warranties which makes the world of difference.

Bottom line: you get what you pay for.

If she is just using it for schoolwork and just misc shit that deals with the internet like facebook.

She wouldn't need anything super powerful. Could probably go with basic computer and it work just fine.

And acer is terrible. Bought a computer from them and it was terrible. Exchange it for another and same result, their computers are shit.

Some people have told me theirs work just fine though. But I advise saying away from acer. Their computers are just bad.

she needs MS word, ms excel, internet for e-mail/facebook, outlook, and basic engineering software. probably wants windows 7, but she would be happy with xp

also, i know you get what you pay for but u also sometimes just spend more for the name. i know sony computers are sweet but for the same specs they cost a lot more. ppl argue mac is the same way but its diff OS so donno donno
