i think if i had hope of a raise, or promotion, things would be different. but being the position i am, at a smaller company, my only hope for growth at this point is our company growing. which is entirely possible ofc. i also happen to live in a place where the average salary is quit a bit lower than a city or even the national average. so my wage is actually better than it appears. this hardly makes you feel better about it though tbh. and while my work environment is actually very good there is never even a "good job" passed on because "good job" really means "thanks for actually doing what i pay you to do".

i dont think one can be happy unless they are their own boss.

or you could do work that you consider yourself as fascination or at least interesting

i would drop everything in my life to go open a brewery and be poor for the rest of my life

step one: adam really wants a brewery, enough so that he will quit his job and venture out on his own
step two: adam wants a partner
step three: adam searches for a partner
step four: we meet to discuss establishment, possible locations, how a partnership would work, whos vested how much/for what etc, future
step five: we wont get here because adam wont need help starting his own place
