what are you looking for out of a car?
i just finish my first year of mechanics

performance wise i would look for a '12 SI coupe
problem is though you're gonna pay more now-a-days for a non eco friendly model..
seeing as the gov't made car makers produce a certain number of them

and you are right, the gas mileage is super attractive. for 22k you can get an all leather interior, with the rest of the bells and whistles. for 19 k you still get AC power windows/locks, cruize ctrl, just no sunroof heated seats or leather

on that 38 degree and rainy morning and you get in your car for another day of work a heated seat is a little piece of satisfaction

Both solid choices, Chevy is building their reputation but Honda has been more consistent over the years. Test drive them and see which feels more comfortable.

the honda dealership we went to has a special thing, powertrain warrenty FOR LIFE.

i asked the guy if we come back with the car in 20 years with 400k miles on it with the engine fucked up. he said that if the car is worth 100 bucks and the repairs necessary are 6k, they write you a check for 6k and you still get to keep the car. cant go wrong.

i am clearly a leech, i get paid with taxpayer money, but i provide academic knowledge and scientific data in return. overall i am increasing the collective "knowledge" of society, at a small cost.
