as if the gin and tonic served in a mason jar with fresh cuts of cucumber and a few sprigs of fresh thyme wasn't pretentious enough, i think im going to try my hand at making my own gin - clearly full out distillery, but infusing vodka with fresh ingredients and filtering etc. I started loving Hendrick's gin, but it's ike $32 for a 750ml bottle that doesn't last long. Will report back when i stop being lazy and try this

haven't seen lotus petals in any of the recipes
i'll have to look into this

im thinking about making a few different small sample size batches and picking one or two winners to recreate

so i decided to try to make my own.im going to make my first creation in a few different batches.
thus far, the botanical list includes:

juniper berries
allspice berries
fennel seeds
coriander seeds
bay leaves
rosemary
lavender
green cardamom
black peppercorns
grains of paradise
